Fragrant Jerky is an authentic Singapore fire-grilled pork jerky (Bak Kwa) specialty shop in the United States. Since 2012, Fragrant Jerky products have been made fresh daily, flame-grilled to perfection individually by hand then sold on-premise as well as shipped to customers all over the world.
Our products are made to order, never pre-packaged or sit in a warehouse for weeks or months. All Fragrant Jerky’s products are produced at our licensed commercial facilities in Los Angeles and are inspected by USDA-FSIS inspected regularly.
Bak Kwa (Hokkien: 肉干) making technique, which is usually a skill inherited, is considered a dying art form. Originating from Southern China, Bak Kwa making uses ancient Chinese meat preservation and preparation techniques, oriental spices are used in its recipe to create mouth-watering and highly addictive snacks.
In countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Mainland China, China Hong Kong, China Taiwan, S. Korea, and Japan, Bak Kwa has become a favorite luxury eatable gift to hand out to friends and relatives during festive holidays.
During Chinese New Year, customers formed lines around the blocks outside Bak Kwa shops hours before opening so they could get their hands on the freshest and limited supply of Bak Kwa.
Today, there are no less than a thousand Bak Kwa shops in major shopping malls and line popular tourist areas in these countries.

Fragrant Jerky’s owner is a third-generation Bak Kwa maker. Started in the business when he was a young boy of thirteen, helping grandma prepare Bak Kwa in the shop, today Mr. Yap hand-selects the freshest meat and ingredients, supervises and is personally involved in the preparation and final grilling process to deliver the best Bak Kwa.
